FROM THE ED’S CORNER

Hopefully that gave you a smile and made you think, “Okay, but stand up for what?” Well, for starters, the upcoming Presidential election is fast approaching, so we want you ALL to stand up to VOTE and be counted.  Our October newsletter theme is “Healthy you, happy you”, and includes a few reminders on the importance of taking care of your body, mind, and spirit as you knock out those mid-terms and prepare for finals (Christmas break is only 8, yes, 8 Saturday nights away!)  And even though daylight hours are harder to come by than a Philadelphia championship in any sport, just because it’s dark doesn’t mean that what you do doesn’t count.  As my grandparents told me as a student, and my parents still love to tell me today, “It’s what you do when no one is looking that matters most.”

Chances are, you don’t have to look far to find the unwanted face of obesity, and who wants to buy a school hoodie in XXXXL?  So here’s to a few things to keep the pounds at bay:  get more sleep, fewer all-nighters, exercise portion control, and as the First Lady reminds us all, “Let’s Move!”
